Starting October 1, beginning at 8:30 a.m., we will begin a series of Men’s Breakfasts on the first Saturday of each month which will focus on encouraging and challenging our men in their walk with Christ and their leadership in family, church, and the world. A light breakfast will be provided.

A Door of Hope’s Gala

A Door of Hope’s Annual Celebration Gala will be the evening of October 6 at Deerfield Golf Club. This will be an exciting night of testimony and inspiration as they raise funds to support their ministry of free services to women to educate and empower them and their families to make life-affirming choices. Register by September 30 at www.adoorofhope.org.

A Door of Hope shares this story:

This week when we arrived at work there was a young lady in our parking lot in tears. Finding herself pregnant unexpectedly, she was completely distraught. Every single person in her support system wanted her to abort her baby.  After spending nearly two hours with one of our trained counselors, we could see that glimmer of hope and strengthening that often occurs when women spend time here.  Please join us in continuing to pray for her as she navigates her difficult situation. We now know, it is likely she will choose life for her child.

Life decisions, need life support to help walk out of the darkness into the light!   This year’s theme is Hope Prevails: Leaving A Legacy of Life. Time is running out to register for the Gala. Sign up now and help support A Door of Hope or just go to learn more about what they do. Tickets are available for purchase until September 30th.

Summer Intern

We are pleased to have a summer intern this year.  Alex Sutherland grew up in the Washington D. C. suburbs and professed Christ at a young age.  He is now a third year Westminster Seminary student and is under care of the Philadelphia presbytery. Alex and his family will join us at Emmanuel this week!

Strange New World

How did the world arrive at its current, disorienting state of identity politics, and how should the church respond?  The class will discuss Carl Trueman’s new book Strange New World which is a distillation of Trueman’s larger work, The Rise and Triumph of the Modern Self.

This class will touch on some of the most hot-button topics in our modern society. Hopefully, it will help us understand how we got here, how we can think and talk about these issues in a Christ-honoring way, and how we can live out our faith in a rapidly changing world.
