Installation of Church Officers

On Sunday, February 9, 2014, Harold Grubbs was installed as elder and Bob Simmons and John Stahl were installed as deacons for another term.

Southern Hospitality welcomed several of our members including Pastor Matossian to the “Embers to a Flame” Conference last weekend in Birmingham, Alabama.  The men were encouraged and motivated by the speakers and discussions on nurturing church vitality.

Due to the inclement weather, Coffee Break postponed its annual Christmas brunch until January.  The women enjoyed good food, good friends, and singing some Christmas carols.  Next week, they start a new study on the book of John.  Join them!  Free child care is provided.

Choir members sang on the front steps of Emmanuel on December 21 bringing cheer to the community.  They sang at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.  Christmas carols were played by harp and flute instrumentalists in Emmanuel’s fellowship hall. Light refreshments were served along with the opportunity to roast marshmallows.   This fun event was free and open to the public.

Emmanuel’s Nursing Home Ministry gave a Christmas Program at two of our local nursing homes.  The residents sang along.

The children’s Sunday School department gave a Christmas program on December 15th.  The children took part in reading Scripture, singing songs as a group, and singing with the congregation.

The Sunday Breakfast Mission Men’s Chorus, under the direction of Virginia Vaalburg, sang at Emmanuel Sunday night, December 1st.  The men sang a number of songs including some Christmas music.  We were blessed by their visit.

The sounds of Christmas will fill the air at Emmanuel on Saturday, December 21.  Enjoy carols with Emmanuel’s choir on the front steps of the church.  Performances are 4:00 – 4:45 pm and 7:00 – 7:45 pm.  In case of inclement weather, the choir will move indoors.  In our Fellowship Hall  you can sip warm beverages while listening to harp and flute music from 5:00 – 8:00 pm.  Come and bring a friend!
